While the Logical Data Model focuses on the business requirements and provides a high-level view of the data relationships, the Physical Data Model deals with the technical aspects of database implementation and provides detailed specifications for creating the physical database structure. Both models are essential for a comprehensive and successful database design process.

Code-first approach

EnergyConnect uses Entity Framework Core with a code-first approach to define and generate the physical database schema. Because the schema is derived from code, documenting this model as a static diagram or table would quickly become outdated. For that reason, the EF Core model and its configuration in code are the source of truth for the physical database design.
